Joe’s Last Train (2005)

Country Gentlemen

Recorded while Doyle Lawson was a member of the band, Joe’s Last Train marked The Country Gentlemen’s return to Rebel Records in the mid-1970’s after a brief, two-album stint for Vanguard Records. It’s all good material, well done, especially Charlie’s classic version of an old Gene Autry number “Ages and Ages Ago” (one of his favorite songs), the title track—one of three Leroy Drumm-Pete Goble compositions on the album and the striking a cappella quartet number “Lord Don’t Leave Me Here.”
