A Ride Through The Country (1995)

Lost & Found

Of all the groups on the Rebel label, the Lost & Found were probably the most adept at choosing and performing songs from mainstream country music of the period. A lot of this was due to Allen Mills’ love for so-called “Country & Western” music, which was to be heard on various radio programs in southwestern Virginia and regionally as well. The entire band had an ear for a good country song, and used them to good effect in their personal appearances. Some of the most popular numbers they played included “Wild Side of Life,” “Don’t Be Angry,” “I Wouldn’t Change You If I Could,” “Take These Chains From My Heart” and “Fraulein.” The band at the time of these recordings featured Barry Berrier on guitar and lead vocals, Lynwood Lunsford on banjo and James Price on fiddle—and of course Mills and mandolin picker Dempsey Young.
