It’s About Time (2002)

Lost & Found

The appropriately-titled It’s About Time was the Lost & Found’s first release in several years. Celebrating the veteran Virginia group’s 30th year in music, it was a typical blueprint of the band’s work—there is a great mixture of new material, including “Johnston’s Grocery Store”(a #1 song on Bluegrass Unlimited’s National Survey chart), as well as old Country & Western numbers, like “Window Up Above,” “Fourteen Carat Mind” and “Just About Then,” all beautifully played and evocatively sung. Allen Mills (bass & vocals) and underrated mandolin picker Dempsey Young have been there from the start in 1973. They are joined here by current band members Scottie Sparks and Ronald Smith, with Junior Sisk and Barry Berrier present on some of the cuts as well.
